Progressive Failure Analysis for 5MW-Class Wind Turbine Composite Blades with Debonding Damage based on CZM Method

چکیده

Composite wind turbine blades may experience interlaminar damage, including adhesive failure, cracking, and fracture from manufacturing or external fatigue load. Among these, the failure of joints is critical. Therefore, it important to identify mechanism in between spar cap–shear web trailing edge composite blades. We calculated toughness through Mode I, II, Mixed-mode tests for quantitative analysis joints. Then, select a modeling method realizing damage generated blade, was verified specimen level. A model constructed, considering contact conditions an NREL 5MW blade. Finally, based on cohesive zone used analyze progressive behavior debonding at according force applied

Damage tolerance and structural monitoring for wind turbine blades.

The paper proposes a methodology for reliable design and maintenance of wind turbine rotor blades using a condition monitoring approach and a damage tolerance index coupling the material and structure. By improving the understanding of material properties that control damage propagation it will be possible to combine damage tolerant structural design, monitoring systems, inspection techniques a...

Testing and Condition Monitoring of Composite Wind Turbine Blades

In a wind turbine system, blades are one of the most critical components. They capture energy from wind and convert it to a mechanical energy for electricity power generation. However, once the blades are defective, the power generation efficiency of the turbine will be significantly affected. In worse case when the blade is seriously damaged, the turbine will have to be shut down completely fo...
